Southern Broken Bank Note Lot (51pcs).. Most of these are from the time of the Civil War, 1861-65, a range of states, denominations, and grades, including an unissued Bank of Texas One Dollar/Un Peso remainder, plus a contemporary counterfeit $50 Confederate issue of 1861. This is a splendid assortment of early broken bank note types, including denominations as low as five cents and twenty-five cents. We see a Bank of Tennessee $1 with pillar dollar vignettes, a colorful Augusta Insurance & Banking Company $2 from 1861, $100 State of Louisiana 1863. In fact, most of the southern states are represented, both private and public issuers, combining for a wonderful assortment for the student of early American paper money. Most of these are "issued" notes, but there are several unissued remainders as well.
