Autographed Letter by Edward Everett, Whig politician,1846, Boston, MA, folded to 2.75” x 5” and mounted on 11.5” x 10” display sheet, Very Fine. Address cover has a circular stamped red Boston cancel, dated February 5. Everette was a renowned orator, writer, and congressman (1825-35), governor of Massachusetts (1836-40), secretary of state under Millard Fillmore, senator and vice-presidential candidate of the Constitutional Union Party in 1860, with John Bell as candidate for president. His best-known oration was a two-hour speech at Gettysburg, PA, on November 19, 1863, preceding Lincoln’s more famous two-minute speech. Lightly toned and minor soiling.
