Obsolete Currency
Uncancelled Printing Plate for Checks on The Farmers and Mechanics Bank

Philadelphia, PA, The Farmers and Mechanics Bank, Copper Printing Plate for a Sheet of 6 Checks, Choice Extremely Fine, Uncancelled!
10” x 16,” in excellent condition, with only some minor oxidation spots and light scratching that do not affect the metal or the printing potential of this sheet. A machine- and hand-engraved sheet of copper, uncancelled, and ready for printing. This was used to create sheets of six checks for customers of the bank. Made sometime between 1807-1864, before the name of the bank was changed to The Farmers and Mechanics National Bank. Made by J. Keim of Philadelphia, whose name appears in print on the reverse of the plate. A phenomenal addition to any collection of obsolete currency, particularly the notes of this bank (Haxby PA-430).
