1882 Trade Dollar. A burnished pale brown toned Proof whose crisp strike is finely detailed on Liberty and the eagle, with only a coupule of the upper stars showing rounded feathers. The obverse is extensively hairlined. The proofs of 1879-83 are well-liked because they are Proof-only issues struck in a period when Congress was slowly getting around to abolishing the series (which didn't occur until 1887 even though the last so-called business strikes were minted in 1878).
