1914 Barber Half Dollar. A few little marks on the lower neck. Seldom do we include a business strike example of this issue whose surfaces are smooth enough to warrant a Mint State 64 rating from either NGC or PCGS. This is just such a coin, and the quality benefits further from underlying mint luster and attractive toning. The lustrous surfaces are free of most abrasions other than that already mentioned. Barber half dollar production at the Philadelphia Mint came to precisely 124,230 business strikes in 1914 -- the lowest mintage of any year in the series. Although low grade examples have and are being hoarded because they are inexpensive, MS64s have always been, and will undoubtedly remain elusive. (#6530)
