1846 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Medium date. Original surfaces with sharp reflective quality and smooth mirrors matching in beauty for the grade. A choice but not gem quality specimen made even more desirable by its certified status as the Proof 62 quality of this date. There are a handful of Proofs known but most seem to be tied up in big collections and rarely present themselves for sale. This pleasing coin is about average for an early Proof and we note that Pittman did not own one at all even though he had an extensive run of early seated Proof coins. (#6390)
