1839 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Drapery. Second style of design on the newly authorized seated Liberty half dollar for 1839, Liberty now sports a bolt of cloth below her elbow. This serves to present a more triangular appearance and so improves the composition. The eagle with a shield was carried over almost exactly from the 1836-38 capped bust period on the new type. Lustrous, if minimally Uncirculated. (#6232)
