THE FRENCH LINE (1953) - Mary "Mame" Carson's (Jane Russell) Leotard - Mary "Mame" Carson's (Jane Russell) leotard from Lloyd Bacon's musical-romance film The French Line. Carson wore her leotard during her dinner performance aboard The French Line.

Designed by Michael Wolfe, this red leotard features red sequins, a red tulle trim, black metal studs, clear acrylic rhinestones, boning, and a zipper closure. Included are three exhibition booklets in English and French; one 18-page booklet from The Costume Institute, one 48-page booklet from the Whitworth Gallery at the University of Manchester, and one 15-page booklet from Hollywood Au Marais. This leotard exhibits loose threads, discolored rhinestones, tape residue, and a torn groin.
