THE BLACK HOLE (1979) - V.I.N.CENT Filming Miniature

A V.I.N.CENT filming miniature from Gary Nelson's 1979 sci-fi film The Black Hole. V.I.N.CENT stands for "Vital Information Necessary CENTralized". It was designed by Disney Imagineer George McGinnis and voiced by Roddy McDowall (uncredited). V.I.N.CENT served as a utility robot on the USS Palomino, and befriended a similar robot called B.O.B. (voiced by Slim Pickens) after boarding the USS Cygnus.

This filming miniature is carefully crafted to resemble the full-scale model. Made of resin, it is expertly painted red, marbled grey, cream and black. It features a barrel-shaped torso, dual arm and leg appendages, a spherical head and a flat headpiece. There are four lateral holes across the back, and the robot's familiar square-shaped eyes are painted on the head. Technical data is written across faux panels on the torso, and the name "V.I.N.CENT L.F.396" is stencilled in red on the front and back.

The piece is presented on a display stand with the film's title at the base and a pole inserted into the same aperture that was used by the production team for filming. The lot exhibits minor signs of wear, including loss of paint, but it remains in good condition. Dimensions: 41 cm x 30 cm x 23 cm (16" x 12" x 9")
