<b>¥ Georgia Currency</b><hr><b>'for the Support of the Continental Troops'</b>

<b>June 8, 1777, $4, 'Stag' Vignette, variety with Red 'in,' Extremely Fine.</b>
A pleasing example of a currency note from Georgia, issued during the early days of the Revolutionary War. In fact, the text printed in both red and black ink on this most historic issue reads; 'This CERTIFICATE, for the Support of the Continental Troops, and other Expenses of Government, entitles the Bearer to FOUR DOLLARS, in CONTINENTAL Currency, according to the Resolution of Assembly, June 8th, 1777.' There is an ornate border design surrounding the central text, a lovely red printed seal of a standing Stag, at lower right while being hand signed, to the left by five respected and notable outstanding citizens for authentication and warrantee of good faith in the money. The notes serial number, being the most historic number in American history... '76'! There is some faint reinforcement on the blank reverse of the centerfold using near invisible, fibrous paper. Georgia issued notes that are some of the most prized and heavily collected due to their colorful printing, lovely use of vignettes and the low number that were every issued because the population of Georgia was so spare, during those early days.
