BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (1978) - Cylon Costume on Display

A Cylon costume from Richard A. Colla's and Alan J. Levi's Battlestar Galactica. Cylons wore their armour as they betrayed their pact with human civilization and destroyed their fleet ships. Gaining a cult following after its initial run, Battlestar Galactica eventually grew into a significant science fiction franchise, with video games, comics, theme park attractions, and the critically-acclaimed 2004 reimagining.

This black and metallic-finish costume consists of a grey synthetic-blend undersuit with black rubber details and black vinyl-covered plastic bicep and thigh covers, a chrome-finished plastic helmet with wiring running into it , shoulder armour marked "RIGHT CYLON-Y002-16" and "LEFT CYLON-Y002-15, chest and back armour, bicep cuffs, arm guards with vinyl detailing, black padded leather gloves, a black leather belt with metallic-finish utility compartments, a black and silver-colour nylon skirt wrap, a metallic-finish plastic sword with a black handle and a black polyester belt, shin guards, black and silver-colour painted rubber boots, and a black foam rubber gun. The belt for the sword, skirt, and boots are replicas added to complete the costume, the gun is unfinished, and the helmet was finished some time after production using an original chrome-finished shell. The costume is displayed on a foam and metal-reinforced mannequin. This lot exhibits fading colour, deteriorating leather and fabric, and patch repairs made with metallic-finish tape throughout.
