A whimsical 1933 New Year’s greeting from the French tobacco industry. Though the idea of mischievous scamps on a cigarette break was considered a cute concept by 1930’s standards, one can only imagine that any advertising executive putting this idea on the table in today’s conservative, taboo-shy Madison Avenue milieu would be shown the door as quickly as Joe Camel. However, this doesn’t detract one iota from Vincent’s creative command, which is apparent in every line and expression of this poster.
