Massachusetts Currency
Paul Revere Engraved 30s “Sword In Hand” Note

August 18, 1775, 30s, Paul Revere Engraved, “Sword In Hand,” Choice Crisp Extremely Fine+ to About Uncirculated.
A wonderful, boldly printed note having rich black text and strong serial number and signatures of J. WHEELER and J. PRESCOTT. Whole and complete with four full margins and excellent centering. Fresh and quite clean in appearance for its grade, with excellent eye appeal. Only a light horizontal centerfold and some minor edge wrinkles noted. Overall, an extraordinary, high quality note of this scarce Paul Revere engraved, early Revolutionary War issue. In many ways, it is quite comparable to the quality of the Newman plate note for the issue, found on page 204 of his current 1990 reference “The Early Paper Money of America”. Also an issue shown and recorded in the great reference work THE ENGRAVING OF PAUL REVERE, by Bright and found under the Paper Money section. Printed due date of August 18, 1779. A popular rarity, always in great demand in this quality. Certainly one of the very Finest Known of the denomination.
