Vincent’s automotive affinity has been well-documented in our Automobile Section, but as this early poster by the artist demonstrates, he was proficient with vehicular promotion of any stripe. The charming design shows two ladies in identical outfits–potentially twins with a dye-job secret–riding tandem on a bicycle built for two, while a sporty looking chap with a wonderfully lascivious expression on his face makes a hot pursuit on his single passenger Cottereau. In this period, Vincent used heavy outlines and a near-caricature style; his smooth elegance was to come in the posters he created in the 1920s.
