Cond A-/Slight stains and creases, largely at edges.
Take your pick. Neither the English title ("The Haunting Hand”) nor the French release moniker ("The Wolves Devour One Another”) would seem to apply very much to the pensive moment of heroine browbeating in this poster for the eighth installment of Ravengar, the French release of the PathÈ distributed The Shielding Shadow. This fantastic yarn–told in fifteen 2-reel chapters–in which the chief gimmick is some sort of a cloak that permits the hero to become an invisible crime fighter (Chapter Ten: "The Vanishing Mantle”) once the outerwear is treated with mysterious pellets of some kind. Naturally, the pellets are stolen in Chapter One ("The Treasure Trove”) leaving fourteen chapters for our hero to recover his property. Along the way, he has to duke it out with all kinds of peril, including a huge amphibious squid (Chapter Two: "Into The Depths”), take on a villain named One-Lump Louie and even face that most dreaded of all menaces–an alluring cabaret singer. Sure, it all sounds a little silly, but with a creepy title like The Shielding Shadow, a guy named One-Lump Louie on the loose and a Loch Ness wannabe, I’d run to see it today if anyone was showing it.
