"La plage en vogue” (The Fashionable Beach) was the slogan chosen in 1950 to lend the Belgian coast resort a sophisticated new image to go with its new casino. The classic beach image and classy blonde helped to reinforce the verbiage. Besides the poster, the design appeared on a brochure cover and in magazine advertisements for several years. "It is one of the ‘catchiest’ creations of painter/graphic artist Herman Verbaere, who was also among the most prolific of posterists” (CÙte Belge, p. 160).
