Toussaint had a long and productive career in Belgium as a painter, but unfortunately produced few posters. And of these, the CafÈ Jacqmotte, with its rich color contrasts and its strong design, is his very best. It’s the color combinations which makes this poster stand out. Everything is luminous and flowing, giving form and grace to this rare and impressive composition.
