OASIS - Liam Gallagher's Photo-matched 1996 Brit Awards Sheepskin Coat

A photo-matched sheepskin coat worn by Liam Gallagher at the 1996 Brit Awards ceremony, which took place on 19 February at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. Oasis won British Album of the Year for (What's the Story) Morning Glory? and British Video of the Year for "Wonderwall". During his acceptance speech, Noel Gallagher memorably insulted the award presenter Michael Hutchence, and the band poked fun at their Britpop rivals Blur by singing a vulgar version of "Parklife". Uneven stitching on the back and front of the right sleeve can be matched to images of Gallagher at the awards.

The coat was originally gifted to boxer Colin Dunne by his friend Paul Gallagher, Liam and Noel's brother. Dunne then gave the jacket to a family friend, with whom it remained for several years.

The coat is made of brown sheepskin, lined with cream-coloured shearling, and displays a hood attached via a metal zip. The front of the garment features two large pockets, a metal zip and four toggle fastenings. It is marked as a size XL and the manufacturer's label is no longer present. There are minor marks and patches of light wear on the coat's exterior, notably on the pockets and sleeves.

Estimate: GBP 6000 - 12000 M
