Cond B+/Slight tears, largely at bottom edge.
With doe-eyes at limpid as Clara Bow’s–even in crimson–why bother with other cluttering elements. such is Aberg’s approach for "High Stakes,” the Swedish release of Frank Tuttle’s "No Limit.” Bow personified the typical flapper of the Jazz Age. Having ridden an impressive wave of popularity in the 1920s, she would make only two more films after this one. The story of gambling, thievery and, ultimately, the redemptive force of unselfish love, would today stir up powerful nostalgia in diehard New Yorkers for its scenes filmed on the long since bygone 6th Avenue Elevated, as well as in Times Square, Central Park and Amsterdam Avenue.
