Though William Powell and Fay Wray might be the most recognizable names to many contemporary movie-goers, it was one of the supporting players in this tale of Broadway Babies titled "Pointed Heels”–or "Lora from the Ballet” as it was known in Sweden–who went on to be a massive pop culture touchstone. Helen Kane, who plays Dot–one half of the film’s Dot & Dash song and dance team–gained instant fame with the "boop-boop-a-doop” ending to her recording of "I Want To Be Loved By You.” She became one of the quintessential symbols of the flapper era, and was eventually immortalized in the comic strips and cartoons as Betty Boop.
