You wouldn’t know it from the expressionistic Deco poster for "The Sharpshooters of Lost Valley”–domestically "The Crimson Challenge”–but this is a good old American western, albeit with a twist–the two-gun hero is a woman. Played by Dorothy Dalton, this rancher’s daughter who becomes the object of unwanted advances from Lost Valley’s saloon owner and ruffian supreme, is no fading violet but a woman who takes matters into her own hands and dispatches this cad named Buck with extreme prejudice. The book, "Tharon of Lost Valley,” on which this film is based was a bit of a literary novelty: a gal who could outdraw the bad guy in a gunfight in 1919 was a daringly new concept.
