The facial features may be less than abundant in this indigo Art Deco tidbit for "The Merry Widow’s Millions” (or "Goin’ To Town” as it was known at home), but that curvaceously blue silhouette couldn’t belong to anyone other than its star, Mae West. The film focuses on the regrettable fad of the era’s quest for titles and ridiculous wealth as an entrÈe into high society, but West peppers her performance with her patented pepigrams, pertness and plenty of punch. Why does the poster single out Fred Kohler, the actor who played the cattle baron whose death in the first few minutes of film starts West’s character on her climb? Most likely his Swedish origin made the distributor feel that his name would have "hometown” appeal. Aberg, a graphic artist who worked in the studio of Erik Rohman, specialized in film posters.
