These 60 pilots, with just 20 planes and a ground crew of 200, in less than a year claimed 299 kills of Japanese aircraft. Under constant attack, getting their fuel, ammunition and supplies catch-as-catch-can, the 'Tigers' faced unbelievable hardships as they took to the air again and again to devastate Imperial air armadas.
