EugÈnie Buffet, "la chanteuse populaire” (the popular singer) appeared in the musical "Etoiles de Paris” (Stars of Paris) which opened at the vast ThÈ‚tre de la Republique on September 17, 1895. So popular was Buffet that she alone is featured in a busking manner on this poster; no mention of the musical was deemed necessary.
