An impressive group of 19th Century U.S. insurance policies (14 are from the 1870s), each from a different company. All are as folded, four pages, and unfold to large dimensions. Each has an engraved or lithographed illustration as well as ornate and fancy lettering. Most have imprints, including some very prominent engraving and lithograph companies (Continental Bank Note Co., National Bank Note Co., Hatch Lithograph Co., Tiffany & Co., Major & Knapp, W.F. MurphyÕs Sons, and others). Many with allegorical figures and scenes, eagles and shields, Revolutionary War, and Arab warrior on horseback, a fireman, a burning city skyline, a New York street scene, and more. Companies represented include: Alemania Fire Insurance Co., Fire Association of Philadelphia, German American Insurance Co., Home Insurance Co., Insurance Co. of North America, Lorillard Insurance Co., and New York Equitable Insurance Co. A few with light staining, but insides are nearly all fresh and quite frameable. (19 pieces)
