FAT BOY SLIM - Tim Abbot Collection: Best Editing MTV Video Music Award For "Weapon of Choice"

A "Best Editing" MTV Video Music Award presented to Fatboy Slim manager Garry Blackburn in 2001 for the "Weapon of Choice" music video. Directed by Spike Jonze, Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" features Christopher Walken dancing around the Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles. It is often cited as one of the greatest music videos, and won six awards at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.

The award comprises a silver-coloured astronaut - now referred to as the "Moon Person" - mounted on a circular base holding a flag that displays the MTV logo. An engraved metal plaque on the front features details of the award. The silver finish has worn away in places over time, and the base exhibits some minor marks. Dimensions: 13 cm x 13 cm x 32.5 cm (5 1/4" x 5 1/4" x 12 3/4")

Additional Provenance: This lot comes from the personal collection of Tim Abbot. Beginning with selling Northern Soul records during his school days, Abbot has been a prominent figure within the music industry for the last 50 years - most notably as Managing Director of the infamous Creation Records during the period when Oasis dominated the music scene - and has contributed to over 250 million records being sold. Artists Abbot has worked with include Oasis, Robbie Williams, Fatboy Slim, UB40, Primal Scream, Ocean Colour Scene and more. Along the way, Abbot has documented, archived, photographed and videoed his remarkable journey, providing a unique insight into some of music's biggest artists.
