ERIC CLAPTON - Pair of Tour-used "Duck Bros." Yamaha PA Cab Flight Cases

A pair of brown "Duck Bros." flight cases used on tour by Eric Clapton and Albert Lee circa 1979 to 1983. When Lee joined Clapton's band as a guitarist in 1979, he turned up with a duck whistle, which caught Clapton's attention. Clapton soon also bought a whistle, and the duo became known as the "Duck Brothers" when on tour. Their crew applied a custom stencil featuring this name to all of the tour cases.

The cases are made of plywood with a metal frame and components, and feature butterfly latches, side handles and wheels. Numbered "39" and "40", the case exteriors display the white "The Duck Bros." stencil and the remnants of multiple freight stickers. Housed inside each case is a Yamaha PA cab speaker, which is not original, but of the period. The cases exhibit scuffing and marks from use, with signs of corrosion on the metal components. This lot comes from the personal collection of Chris Hewitt, noted audio archaeologist and author of several books on vintage sound equipment. Dimensions (each case): 71 cm x 55 cm x 105 cm (28" x 21 1/2" x 41 1/4")
