NORMAN ROCKWELL (1894-1978)
522. Goodrich Bicycle Tires.
24 1/8 x 37 1/4 in./61.2 x 94.6 cm
Cond B+/Slight tears at vertical fold.
New York-born and trained, Rockwell became the artist of small-town America, best known for the 322 covers he painted for the Saturday Evening Post between 1916 and 1963. A supreme draftsman, he had a unique ability to give visual expression to the American Dream–and the majestically naive motivations behind the reasons to dream. Three such reasons trick-ride their way into our collective sentimentality for Goodrich bicycle tires. And with the hopes of a nation pinned to these idealized faces of the future, nothing but the "Best in the Long Run” could suffice.
