1856-S $20 Liberty. One of the highest mintage issues of the Type 1 design and a coin that can, from time-to-time, be found in Uncirculated condition. Like most other No Motto Double Eagles, however, the 1856-S is extremely rare in better grades. The presently offered MS61 is notable for its uniform sharpness and lack of serious abrasions. A few wispy hairlines are seen in the reverse field, but otherwise the surfaces are frosty. (#8919)
