Lot 516: 1867, Mexican Broadside
<b>Broadsides</b><hr><b>June 21, 1867, Mexican Broadside: “VIVA MEXICO,” by Eufemio M. Rojas, Zaragoza, Choice Very Fine.</b>
13” x 8.5” broadside on newsprint, printed in Spanish, and signed in print by Rojas, the Secretary of the town of Zaragoza. Beautiful typeface in headline, and large, block lettering in text, relating the contents of a telegram from General Mendez to the town: “On the 20th of this month, we received the following telegram. / ‘Tacubaya to the Town June 20, 1867.--Senor General Mendez--’ ... Senor General Diaz leaves this moment from Chapultepec for the city of Mexico, dictated by the same dispositions needed in order to conserve the public order.--Benitez. / It shall be made public and to the good Mexicans, sealed by the good name and “decoro nacional,” by disposition of the ... Governor.” Broadside with normal folds, taped along bottom left edge and on verso along bottom right side. Some offset print text from another broadside along top margin. Very nice for framing and display.
