13.2” x 8.75” broadside on newsprint, printed in Spanish, and signed in print by Rojas, the Secretary of the town of Zaragoza. Featuring the contents of a telegram from the colonial general, which announces the pending “Execution of Justice.” / [G]eneral Escobedo sends the following telegram today from Queretaro. / With this date I say to the minister of war the following: The 14th day of this month at 11 p.m., there has been condemned by the ‘consejo’ of war, FERNANDO MAXIMILIANO / de Hapsburgo, / D[on] Miguel Miramon and D[on] Tomas Mejia, / to suffer the ultimate penalty: confirmed this sentence by the Cuartel general the 15th day, sent the 16th for execution, which has been suspended until today by disposition of the Supreme Government....” Broadside with normal folds, taped on verso along bottom edge. A few small edge splits. Beautiful block-letter printing reflecting Mexico’s quest to throw off the colonial rule of Emperor Maximillian.
