Black History
1859, ExecutorÕs Document Recording the Disposition of Slaves.
12 pages, 12.5' x 8', blue paper, attached with a ribbon at top, Choice Very Fine, minor toning and waterstaining. This is the handwritten report of the executor of the will of Daniel Dewalt of South Carolina. The slaves were divided between DewaltÕs widow and his children, along with other property (land, his gold watch, etc.). Dewalt directs the executor to give each of his daughters four slaves (two males and two females). If there were not enough slaves 'on hand' at the time of his death, the executor was to purchase them from the proceeds of the estate!
