Broadsides
December 29, 1781, Mexican Broadside: “D. MARTIN DE MAYORGA, CABALLERO DE EL ORDEN DE ALCANTARA...,” Choice Very Fine.
17” x 12.25” fine-laid, watermarked paper with large, dark type and stamped seals. Martin de Mayorga was a governor and a captain during the reign of “New Spain,” among other things, and he signs in print at the bottom of this broadside, which regulates the extraction and transportation of gold and silver to Spain, the Philippines and elsewhere. Large signature at the bottom in brown ink by Juan Ulmigloria (?), no title. Beautiful printing, with rough edges, normal folds, split along the center fold. Perfect for framing and display.
