1838-D $5 Classic Head. Scarce. The entire production of 20,583 coins was produced from a single die pair, thus just one variety is known. Dahlonega, Georgia struck gold coins from 1838 to 1861 when it was closed at the time of the War for Southern Secession, also known as the American Civil War. (#8178)
