1800 $5 Capped Bust. A generous amount of detail for the type, though with the usual weak metal flows into the deepest channels of the dies leaving a few chest feathers and portions of the shield soft in places. There is the normal rim die break on the reverse above ST, seen on a number of 1800 half eagles. This tough die just kept striking coins, in spite of what would otherwise limit the die's life. Lustrous with attractive yellowish to golden orange surfaces. (#8082)
