<b>1865 Newspaper Clippings from Lincoln Assassination, Lot of 4, Very Good to Very Fine.</b>
Interesting assortment of newspaper clippings from New York and Saint Paul, dated April 15 and April 18, 1865. Includes a portrait of Lincoln from the New York paper, mounted on 13.5' x 8' ledger paper, with a colorful cloth flag, black mourning gauze, and 'EXTRA' news clippings on the 'DEATH OF THE PRESIDENT. A second ledger sheet has a newspaper print of LincolnÕs log cabin, and more tributes to Lincoln. The third piece in this collection is a tabloid-sized sheet, 'Saint Paul Press-Extra,' with 'PARTICULARS' of the assassination. The final piece is a four-page newspaper, 'THE SAINT PAUL PRESS' from April 16, 1865, with black mourning borders and complete coverage of the assassination. Penciled notation of a previous owner, Mrs. Hazel Tourtillott, is written along top margin. All items are worn, toned, and foxed, with edge splits and/or chipping. A touching set of newspaper memorabilia, from the Lincoln assassination. Sold 'as is.' (4 pieces)
