<b>Lincoln Related</b><hr><b>'The Rebel Cause Is Tottering...'</b>

<b>c. October 1864, Broadside, New York City, "What Jeff. Davis Thinks Of The War," Very Fine.</b>
11" x 8", framed to 16.25" x 13.25". In response to those in the North who are demanding that "IMMEDIATE efforts be made for a CESSATION OF HOSTILITIES," the National Union Executive Committee prints portions of two speeches by Jefferson Davis which show the desperate state of affairs in the Confederate ranks -- two-thirds of the Rebel forces are disabled or have deserted. The Union Committee urges, "Does that look as if the war had been a FAILURE on our part?...Can you doubt...that the Rebel cause is tottering to its fall? Can you doubt that unity, energy and perseverance on our part will speedily crush the last remnants of resistance, and restore the Union and the supremacy of the Flag?...VOTE FOR LINCOLN! That is the most effectual way of ENDING THE WAR AND RESTORING THE UNION!" Light scattered foxing, not affecting legibility.
