<b>September 29, 1862, 'UNION VOLUNTEER REFRESHMENT SALOON AND HOSPITAL,' Illustrated Receipt, Philadelphia, PA, Choice Fine.</b>
7.25' x 9.75' handcolored 'poster' style receipt, with a touching lithograph by 'F. J. Queen' and 'T. Sinclair' in the foreground. Featuring a disabled Union veteran being assisted by a boy and a girl. In the background are images of buildings and assembled troops. The receipt acknowledges that Miss Sallie Hodge made contributions 'in aid of the Union Volunteer Refreshment Saloon and Hospital...' Signed by the secretary of the organization, and includes in print the names of the hospital committee. Toned and soiled paper, with tears and edge splits repaired on verso with tape. Bright, attractive appearance; suitable for framing and display.
