Letter from J. C. Cox, Co. A Texas Volunteer Infantry, April 28, 1863, Ft Weir Shell Bank, 1 page, front and back, 11.75' x 7.5', Fine. To his parents: 'I have no general news to write to you of great importance except the Yankees have been floging out our boys on Bevwicks Bay not so much fighting as their was Scheddling our forses is said to have backed out untill the Yankees have persision of Alexandra The suposition is that this command will receive marching orders shortley to reinforce Taylor, Banks is commanding the Yankee forces consisting of about 32,000 and ours about 5,000.' Left margin has mark where it was earlier reinforced with tape; some chipping at margins; light toning, few ink smudges.
