Post-Rev. War
1800 Act Signed In Type By Jefferson And Adams Suspending Commerce With France

(THOMAS JEFFERSON and JOHN ADAMS).
Printed Document Signed (in type), 'THOMAS JEFFERSON' as Vice-President and 'JOHN ADAMS' as President at the end of an Act dated February 27, 1800, 3 pages, 13.25' x 8.25,' Choice Extremely Fine. Titled 'An Act, Further to suspend the commercial intercourse between the United States and France, and the dependencies thereof.' Light age toning, mostly on the outer edges, with some repaired splits and tiny holes at the fold intersections. Otherwise, this is a fresh-looking document with plenty of original eye appeal. In 1798, Adams prevented a near-war with France over the XYZ affair. By 1800, tensions flared once again, eventually festering into the War of 1812. An important Act approved by the Sixth Congress.
