STAR WARS: EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE (1977) - Low-Altitude Death Star Model Miniature Surface Panel - A low-altitude Death Star model miniature surface panel from Star Wars: A New Hope. This piece was created as part of a miniature set of the Death Star's massive surface, specifically for low-altitude shots where fighters flew close to the station during the Rebel assault. Panels such as this were made in several different patterns, cast in bulk, then hand-painted and assembled to create the overall surface of the Death Star.

Designed and constructed by Industrial Light & Magic's (ILM) model miniature department, this dense foam panel with cast grid-like greeblies on top his and-painted in shades of gray and applied with scotchlite reflective tape, indicating it may have been staged in the Death Star trench where reflective tape on various panels throughout filming. It also exhibits chipped paint. Dimensions: 12" x 12" x 1.25" (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm x 3.25 cm)
