An enigmatic image full of the fin-de-siËcle taste for medievalism invites visitors to the Third German Applied Arts Exhibition in Dresden, May to October 1906. Gussman even took pains to simulate five-centuries-old paint. Evocative, indeed. Gussman was a painter and crafts designer, and from 1897 on a professor at the Dresden Academy.
