(War of 1812), Patriotic Oration.
'Oration, Prepared to be Delivered At Nottinghamwest, N.H. April 11, 1815, In Celebration of The Late Peace Established between Great Britain and the United States of America; ...' by Humphrey Moore, Pastor of Milford, Printed pamphlet, 16 pages, 9' x 5.5', Choice Fine. This Oration, given after the War of 1812, is not so much in celebration of peace, but given as an admonishment for becoming involved in the war. Stated within, 'It is not by the violation, but by the observance of good laws that the rights of citizens are maintained. It is unhappy when the laws are contrary to the genius and habits of the people. The late violations of our restrictive laws have directly tended to destroy our system of government. Such violations should be frowned indignantly upon by every correct member of society.' Edge wear and light even toning throughout, not affecting text. An informative, period imprint.
