The noted network of six-hundred lakes is undoubtedly a reference to the sandy expanses of the Emerald Coast, the name given to the picturesque stretch of Brittany from Cancale to Val St. AndrÈ. But rather than try and incorporate any of these beaches into his design, Dorival gently sets us down on a lilac draped balcony under a canopy of stars with a dreamy view of the former sleepy fishing village turned smart summer resort across the Rance. A view, easily obtained, by the way, by the service of the French State Railway.
