E. DEMONB…
355. Viaduc du Viaur.
29 x 41 in./73.6 x 104 cm
Atelier E. DemonbÈ, Paris
Cond B+/Slight tears at folds.
Answer this: When is a viaduct more than a viaduct? The answer, of course, is when the steel bridge in question was designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, the lauded French engineer who also designed the Parisian tower that bears his name, as well as the internal structure of the Statue of Liberty. Then this viaduct becomes classified as a "National Monument” by the French government. DemonbÈ renders this marvel of steel and determination with appropriate grandeur for France’s Central rail line, both in close up and far shot, as it dwarfs locomotive, livestock and immediate topography in like fashion.
