Revolutionary War “Prince of Wales” Badge Recovered near the Battle of Saratoga Site, Choice Fine.
A shield-shaped Brass Badge, 35 mm tall x 28 mm wide (at the widest point). Recovered in 2002 in a British Camp just north of the site of the Revolutionary War Battle of Saratoga. Beautiful, olive-colored patina on the outer face, clearly showing the engraved design of three feathers issuing out of a Prince’s coronet. The back is heavily corroded and only the bases of the two studs are visible. Very rare and eminently collectible. Accompanied by a letter from Northeast Metal Detectors attesting to the time and location of the discovery of this unusual piece. Also, accompanied by a xerographic copy of a map showing the exact location of the discovery and its relationship to the Saratoga battlefield. Rare, the first we’ve ever encountered.
