PAUL COLIN (1892-1986)
340. AndrÈ Renaud. 1929.
44 3/4 x 60 3/4 in./113.6 x 154.2 cm
Imp. H. Chachoin, Paris
Cond B+/Slight tears and creases. Framed.
Ref: Colin, 39; Colin Affichiste, 74; Art Deco, p. 99; PAI-XXXI, 274
The two pianos that AndrÈ Renaud simultaneously played look like a double exposure, but, like all the geometric “tricks” of Colin, they are deliberately drawn for maximum effect. And the effect that Colin seeks here–to overwhelm us with the wizardry of Renaud–is achieved by the sheer mass of the combined pianos.
