A graphically diverse collection of Chilean posters, created the year after Dr. Salvador Allende Gossens assumed the country’s presidency, marking the first time in history that a Marxist-Leninist ticket was freely-elected in a non-Communist country. The posters reflect the tumultuous period of Chile, with an emphasis placed on various political agenda and cultural events, with special attention being given to the future of the nation’s youth. Executed in styles ranging from photomontage to sunny cartoon-like expressions of hope, these works provide us with a rarely-seen glimpse into the time before the country was plunged into the Pinochet reign of terror.
