ChÈret’s series for SaxolÈine kerosene extended over ten years and as many memorable designs. They all show little more than a woman and a lamp, but they constitute a virtual textbook on the use of the female figure to sell a product. This poster is the only one in the series in which a heater, rather than a lamp, is shown, basking the surroundings in a comfy snug red. Rare variant without printer’s name lower left.
