THE SHINING (1980) - Stanley Kubrick's Hand-Annotated Shooting Script

Stanley Kubrick's hand-annotated shooting script from the production of Stanley Kubrick's psychological horror classic The Shining. The script was written by Kubrick and Diane Johnson, based on Stephen King's 1977 novel of the same name. Kubrick has handwritten several annotations in pencil and pen, including script changes and scene directions, on 10 pages. The scenes at the Canadian airport featuring the ill-fated Dick Holloran (Scatman Crothers) were shot in the old terminal building at Stansted Airport, U.K., and this script originates from one of the senior employees overseeing media and communications at Stansted at the time.

The 151-page script is printed on hole-punched A4 paper, and is bound by metal clips inside an orange card cover. It is dated "March 30th, 1978," but select pages bear later dates up to April 10th, 1978. The script includes blue pages, which were coloured to enable the reader to keep track of amendments. Subsequent script amendments were made during filming and certain dialogue was improvised, including Jack Torrance's (Jack Nicholson) maniacal "Heeeeere's Johnny!."The lot exhibits minor signs of wear commensurate with its production use and age, including slight creasing and smudging. It is accompanied by a letter of authenticity detailing its history. Dimensions: 30 cm x 21 cm x 2 cm (12" x 8 1/4" x 3/4")

Estimate: GBP 30000 - 60000 M
